Oh hello there...East Coast!
What fun exploring this week! I am happy my evenings are free to do some exploring.
This week, I went to Dupont Circle in DC...as I heard it was the place to be! Found a restaurant called St. Arnolds http://adamsmorganbar.com/. All they serve is mussles and belgian beers. WIN! I had a about 2 dozen mussels and a beer (delicous Kasteel Rouge). Awesome deal, kind of noisy, but worth it. I will go back!
Hopped on the metro and headed to home sweet Hyatt!
Today I went to Great Falls, VA...WOW is all I gotta say!!!!!! Gorgeous waterfalls, hiking trails...the drive alone is amazing. It was really hot, so I only hiked a bit - but I will go back.
Then made the treak over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The brige was a bit daunting, but worth the trip! I googled "crab shacks" and found an awesome place. No real sitting space inside, mostly a takeout place. People call in crab orders. http://www.stevensvillecrabshack.com/
It was 100, but I thought what the hell - I made the drive! I ordered half a dozen crabs, hush puppies and a salad. No idea the crabs would be so big, I barely touched the sides. Anyway, I gathered my food, a mallet, a knife and a pile of newspaper and headed to a picnic table. Realized I Had no clue how to eat the crabs, so I beat the crap out of one and got a bit of meat. Some guy was watching me and laughed. He came over and taught me how to eat the crabs, and even bought me a beer.
Nice guy, lawyer, local, pretty funny..until he told me about his kids. LOL! But we exchanged cards, and may hang out anyway. I got some good tips on where to go. Love meeting locals! He was flabbergasted that I cruise around the country alone finding things to do. Hey, it beats sitting in my hotel room.
After that I headed to a little beach, took pics, people watched and headed back to my hotel. All in all today was a win. I love my life.

Checking out some meetup.com groups...
Out of curiosity I checked out singles groups in Louisville. HAH! I should start one. The choices were for lesbians, super religious people, and people over 50. My favorite in that category "Wealthy Men Behaving Badly", I bet those are some quality men (read...douchey). Oh well, this perpetually single girl will be just fine! I will admit, I enjoy the freedom!
The hunt for great beer...
A friend suggested Old Dominion Brewery, which is in D.C...I haven't made it there yet, but found the beers! After trying one, I MUST make it to the brewery.
This was a bottle of WIN. Smooth and oh so delicious.

Another win...Asheville is FAB! Great city, tons of breweries, shops, restaurants, people watching.

Just getting started!
I travel for a living, and try to take advantage of wherever I am sent to! I never in a million years considered this career path when I went back to school. I travel to healthcare facilities and help them go from paper charts, to electronic. It's a pretty cool job, I get to meet a lot of people and see new cities!
I miss my house, my friends and my pets...but I enjoy the job!
Last week was spent in Gaithersburg, MD. Not a particularly awesome city, but close to Baltimore and DC. Easy to drive to my work site as well.
My first night there, I wanted to lay around my hotel and be lazy! Traveling is exhausting. But I forced myself out of the room. After googling "seafood", I found myself making the trek to Annapolis, MD! Wow, gorgeous city. Glad I did!
I of course took double the time to get there...as every "scenic view" sign catches my attention. I will be heading back to Annapolis very soon - especially for a Sailing adventure complete with beer tasting! Stopped at a fabulous restaurant ! It was PACKED, right on the water with an amazing view. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered a fat tire and of course a big pile of snow crabs!
Of course, pictures! These are taken with my Iphone, so stop judging! I MUST find my camera.

The next day, I cruised down to DC. The drivers there, oh MY! Next time I will ride the Metro. Traffic sucks, I got honked at a few times and paid $16 to park. But it was so worth it! I took a boat tour of the Washington Monuments. I've seen them on foot, but this was a cool view. 3 minutes prior to departure I was the only one on the boat. I thought "this is awkward". Then a family of oh 17 got on board. Instead of taking the zillion empty seats, they swarmed around me. The thought of pushing them off the boat one by one crossed my mind. I went and sat in the last seat, and quietly enjoyed the tour!
